The Mountain Park Recreation Center and Bloco Alegria welcome you to an evening of Brazilian music and dance. Join your neighbors, friends and family for a big taste of Brazilian performance art on February 26th. Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 7:00pm. See you there!

The $8.00 admission includes refreshments (coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies). Children 3 and under are free. Tickets at the door.

Sheyla Mattos, Almiro Aquilino, and the BBAC community invite you to an afternoon and evening of Brazilian Carnaval fun at the Bahia Brazil Art Center in SE Portland.

Any children within your orbit can get their Brazilian move on with kids performance, a dance lesson and costume contest from 4pm to 6pm.

The adults take over the space from 8pm to midnight with food, drink, dancing and music. Somewhere in there you'll find the percussionists, dancers and singers of Bloco Alegria, helping you feel the pulses of Brazilian Carnaval. If your feet start moving of their own accord, do not worry. They will have the ample and lively company of all of their nearby foot friends.

Complete your Portland Mardi Gras experience with the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Parade on eclectic North Mississippi Avenue.

Join the cast of characters from Misty Krewe of Nimbus, starting at 6:00pm at Victoria Bar and finishing nine blocks south at Ecliptic Brewing. On the route, expect the mezmerizingly elliptical sounds of Bloco Alegria, Transcendental Marching Band, and Skull and Bones second line band.

Following the parade, multiple venues keep the excitement going, including the kids costume awards at Mississippi Pizza.

Bloco Alegria helps celebrate Louisiana culture when Misty Krewe of Nimbus puts on their 6th annual ball, bringing the traditional Mardi Gras experience to our fair city, this time at the Wonder Ballroom and this time with sounds from Brazil. With the theme of "Life is a Carnival", you have the opportunity to interpret your life as a carnival, and what better place to start interpreting than the Wonder Ballroom on February 6th!

As they don't say in Rio (or Portland for that matter), Laissez les bon temps roullez!

Well, if you want to enjoy a sizeable fraction of the bands providing Brazilian flavor to the dance floors in town, get your thing over to the Star Theater on February 5th. Oh yes, it will be a robust night at the Star, with busy Brazilian beats driving your furiously flying feets. And if that's not enough excitement, the Rejoice: Diaspora Dance Theatre will join Z'Bumba, Popgoji and Bloco Alegria with flavors of their own making. This is like ordering everything on the menu, no?

Bloco returns to the Crystal Ballroom to celebrate the venerable venue's birthday, this time its 102nd orbit around the Sun. It was fun last time. It'll be double fun this time.

Back by popular demand! Last year we resurrected one of our favorite annual events and much to our delight the community came out with a bang! So again we fling open our doors and invite all comers to this no-cover all-ages birthday wing-ding. With the Crystal Hotel open, the fun covers two city blocks: Music in four different rooms; comedy in Al's Den; property tours; kids fun; food and drink specials; tastings of our spirits, wine and beer; and of course a special birthday brew will pour throughout the properties. 

The family-friendly festivities begin at 1pm, with Bloco Alegria playing and dancing at 4pm in the main Ballroom venue.
