Bloco Alegria and Batucada PDX bring you the icing on the cake of the Portland carnaval season with the Fourth Annual Brazilian Carnaval, this time at The Analog Cafe and Theater on SE Hawthorne Boulevard.
MaracatuPDX will start the evening with the ecstatic grooves of Northeastern Brazil and the infectious energy of its players and dancers. Stand still if you can.
Bloco Alegria will light up the rest of the evening with the music, dance and songs of Brazil (with a little Aberdeen, Washington thrown in). Joining Bloco during the show will be Bruno Moraes, drum master from the Mocidade School of Samba in Rio De Janeiro. If you want to hear tamborim shredding at its most breathtaking, listen in when Bloco plays Salve A Mocidade.
DJ Digo will sprinkle his magic on the dance floor throughout the evening for those who can't stop dancing between band breaks.
Of special note will be the Analog's special variation of Brazil's national cocktail, the caipirihna, brought to life by Bloco Alegria's resident mixologists. Yes, there is a band work group with this concoction as its raison d'être!
See you at the show.
