Bloco helps the Exchange Ballroom blast off.

Bruno Moraes, master in Brazilian Rio Samba style percussion and a great friend of many of us in Bloco Alegria, is coming back to Portland and is giving a workshop one night only at our rehearsal on September 22 from 8-10pm! Since this will be a short workshop, Bruno will teach some new band bossas and help to tune up the bateria. All Bloco Alegria members as well as people thinking of joining Bloco Alegria are welcome and encouraged to come. It’s a great opportunity to learn from one of the bateria experts from Rio!

Starting at The Fields Park (NW 1th and Overton), Bloco Alegria provides a bit of entertainment at the start of the walk and finishes at NW Naito Parkway and Davis Street with a topper.

Join the lively occupants of 3705 SE Yamhill Street for their third annual block party.

Live music (cumbia, Jamaican jazz, ska, Brazilian), food, a kid's area and other festivities.

Bloco Alegria will be entertaining the Ducks at the Crystal Ballroom.

Bloco Alegria's dancers and musicians will be raising the termperature of the Goodfoot Lounge and welcoming the return to Portland of the awesome Samba Da, the west coast's premiere afro-samba-funk-dance band.

Join Bloco Alegria on its parade through the Division/Clinton Street Fair, one of fairest of Portland's fairs.

We'll start on SE Division at 50th, work our way west to 20th, then south to Clinton and then east to 28th.

Bloco Alegria will encouragingly and happily play at the start of each bike race: 5:45, 6:15, 6:45 and 7:15pm.
