World-class brazilian percussionist Jorge Alabé brings the rich musical culture of Brazil to the U.S. as a performing artist and master teacher. His deep history and skill developed as he grew up playing Afro-Brazilian and samba rhythms in Rio de Janeiro, and took him around the world as director of percussion with the legendary performing company Oba Oba. Jorge is an acknowledged percussion master, and we are very lucky to have him back in Portland before he returns to Rio, where he spends part of the year.

Jorge is also available for private lessons in Afro-based rhythms of Candomblé as well as Rio-style samba. TEXT 503-901-3023 for more info.

Join Bloco Alegria on Saturday, August 13th at 9 pm at the 2022 Beaverton Night Market !!!
We'll be bringing Brazilian songs and samba batucada to an annual fun event. The market creates a vibrant intercultural, family friendly space that is reminiscent of night markets internationally. 
Bloco plays at 9 PM  The market is open from 5-10 pm and has lots of intercultural vendors, food and performers

Bloco Alegria will bring Brasilian samba to the Rose Festival CityFair Fun Zone stage!

This is a 45 minute show with songs, bateria and dancers!

Come dance and be happy with us - we hope to see you there!

An annual tradition, the Rose Festival goes from May 27 to June 12th with concerts, food and carnival rides for multiple weekends.

Bloco Alegria will march to the beat with samba percussion and dance in the Lewis Community Pride Parade on June 4th at 10:30 am.

It starts at the Lewis Elementary School at 4401 SE Evergreen Street in the Woodstock neighborhood in Portland.

A school parade that started last year, 2021, it was initiated by a student and put on by parents and students. Last year was alot of fun, with drumming, lots of students and parents and community members, costumes and more! Join us in the celebration!

Come join us in the Mardi Gras fun at the Fat Tuesday Parade on Mississippi Ave. on Tuesday March 1, 2022!!

Bloco Alegria will parade with the dancing rhythms of samba, and there will be other music and lots of celebration in the most authentic Mardi Gras in the Pacific Northwest. This event, put on by the Mysti Krewe of Nimbus, is free and family friendly. Many venues along the way will have food and drink specials all day and after the parade.

The parade starts at 7:00 at Humboldt/Albina and goes down Cook Street to Ecliptic Brewing.

Everyone is invited to dress up and dance in the streets. Wearing beads and lights is encouraged!

The Willamette Light Brigade puts on this fun and free, creative annual outdoor event. It's a series of pop up installations throughout Portland with lights, multimedia, performances and more. With the focus on lights this festival with brighten our winter nights. There will be over 100 art installations at locations including Pioneer Square, The World Trade Center and the Electric Blocks at SE 2nd and Clay. The event is February 4th - 12th.

Bloco will bring the joyous rhythms of samba to the event. Come dance with us! All outdoors!
